...Thanks guys :) Merry Christmas to you too Jerry!

You've touched on one of the things I'm wanting to draw out in this series - that a love relationship is of ultimate importance, with cognitive understanding being secondary, and serving that purpose. Great verse by the way :)

The Emergent Church movement is very good at highlighting this, but one of its weaknesses is that it tends to deconstruct things without positively framing things, i.e. 'This is cognition's place in the church and Scripture...' That's what I'm hoping to do by the end of the series.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02149662594350828627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1971383925726802733.post-53742948562285907792014-12-26T13:52:00.321-08:002014-12-26T13:52:00.321-08:00This process of thought should be a most important...This process of thought should be a most important aspect of any maturing Christian. All too often we (Christians) surround ourselves with people who have more or less agreed together as to what will be accepted as truth by the group; anyone not adhering to a particular group set of beliefs frequently feels out of place and perhaps not welcome in that group. Differences in cognitive belief based on interpretation of scripture which in turn is based heavily on a group's presuppositions of the world and their place in it, have lead to divisions amongst Christian people of faith. The consequent focus away from relationship between God and man and between man and man has had catastrophic impact on the relationships themselves and also the overall Christian witness to those who as yet are not believers. Regaining balance would be a major step forward. "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" - Jesus.Griffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14149692564526321893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1971383925726802733.post-82538004564587553142014-12-25T22:47:18.530-08:002014-12-25T22:47:18.530-08:00Excellent write up Josh. What you bring up here, is what is needed to be brought up more often within Christian circles. Too often we assume our own conclusions without exploring what actually brought us to those conclusions.
Always a challenging topic but you are exploring it well, with openness and honesty.
